Ally is a verb first and a pin second.
The straight ally symbol is useful when it functions as a visible cue of support rather than a way to centre straight people inside Pride. The pin can say 'you are likely safe with me', but the meaning only holds if it is backed by listening, learning, intervening and showing up when queer people actually need support.
The 20 x 15 mm scale is intentionally practical, visible enough on a teacher lanyard, reception jacket or work bag to function as a safety cue without making the ally symbol the centrepiece of the outfit.
Wear the signal if the behaviour is there to back it up. The pin can tell someone you may be safe; your actions decide whether they were right.
