Queer Skeletons is romance after the flesh has literally left the conversation.

Two skeletons still holding each other is either deeply romantic or evidence that queer attachment issues survive decomposition. Both readings are excellent. There is something weirdly tender about stripping the bodies down to bone and discovering the affection is still there, no gender presentation, no ageing anxiety, no outfit, no makeup, just two sets of bones refusing to stop cuddling.

Queer people do not get enough imagery about lasting, ageing and existing beyond youth, so even a morbid little skeleton graphic can hit somewhere unexpectedly soft. “Til death” has also clearly failed as a boundary here, which gives the whole thing exactly the right queer-goth humour. The bodies are gone. The attachment style remains undefeated. Apparently eternity still has room for cuddling.

There is no serious reason to need Queer Skeletons, which is a very good reason to want it. This one belongs at Pride, Halloween, goth nights, cemetery dates, anniversaries or the coffee shop if you enjoy making romance look mildly haunted.

It is an excellent gift for the queer person whose idea of love includes skulls, black candles and deeply sincere feelings hidden under jokes about death. Bodies change. Bones stay weirdly loyal. These two have apparently renewed the lease, ignored every reasonable exit clause and kept holding on anyway.
