Contrast panels, bare shoulders and a very good reason to leave the shirt open.
The Fire Island Athlete Tank takes its visual cues from sportswear and gives them a more flirtatious setting. Contrast side panels frame the torso, creating a clear line through the body without relying on a slogan or a print. It is the kind of top you can build a whole summer outfit around.
Try it with short shorts when you want the athletic reference to lead, or put it beneath an open shirt to let the panels appear as a quieter detail. The sleeveless shape leaves room for a necklace, a little skin and the pleasure of seeing an outfit come together with very few separate pieces.
The name suggests a queer summer mood: afternoons that drift into social plans, a packed weekend bag and a favorite place to meet friends. You can borrow that atmosphere wherever you are. Wear the tank for a holiday, a casual date or a sunny day at home when you feel like choosing something more considered.
Its close silhouette is the styling point, so enjoy the difference your bottoms make. Wide trousers create a narrow top against a fuller leg; compact shorts take the athletic reference further. Add a necklace at the open neckline or keep the chest clear and let the panels supply the detail. The same tank can look poolside, sporty or ready for drinks.
