Vax 4 Vax is queer dating history from the era when “vaccinated?” briefly joined “host?” and “what are you into?” in the pre-meet questionnaire.
There was something uniquely surreal about pandemic dating language. Public-health vocabulary crashed directly into Grindr shorthand, and suddenly people were communicating risk preferences in the same compressed little bios normally reserved for age, position, distance and whether the flatmates were home.
The heart, syringe and virus imagery capture that very specific cultural moment: earnest and practical, but also impossible not to find a little funny in hindsight. “Vax 4 Vax” sounded like a new sexual tribe even when it was really a snapshot of how people tried to navigate intimacy during a strange period of uncertainty.
Queer internet culture has always been good at turning logistics into language, and this one deserves preservation.
Vax 4 Vax has the useful quality of feeling specific without becoming precious. Wear it as queer pandemic archaeology, healthcare-adjacent humour or a relic of the dating profile you absolutely had in 2021. It works especially well for people who remember comparing vaccination status before agreeing to meet somebody whose surname they still did not know.
This is not current medical guidance and it is not telling anyone what health decisions to make now. It is a time capsule from when desire, caution, public health and app culture somehow all fit inside four characters and a number.

This Queer In The World Original Design is printed to order, so please allow around 2-5 business days for production before dispatch. Making each piece only after it is ordered helps avoid overproduction and unsold inventory, and orders are fulfilled regionally where possible to reduce unnecessary travel. If your order includes other items, they may be produced separately and arrive in more than one parcel.
