On Season 7, Yekaterina Petrovna Zamolodchikova, Katya, described herself as an “average run-of-the-mill Russian bisexual transvestite hooker,” instantly establishing the fake-Soviet glamour, sexual absurdity and deadpan comedy that made the character beloved. “Transvestite” here belongs to Katya's own drag persona and deliberately dated comic vocabulary, not a modern catch-all term for trans people. The line is funniest because nothing about Katya is average, run-of-the-mill or especially credible as biographical information. It is drag character-building in one perfect sentence.
