Technically, all chaps are assless.

Tom of Finland's drawings helped define a visual language of exaggerated gay masculinity: huge bodies, leather, boots, uniforms, bikers, cops and men who looked as though they had been issued thighs by the Finnish government.
His work matters here because gay erotic culture was not simply borrowing femininity as a route out of heterosexual masculinity. It was also taking masculinity itself, turning every dial past sensible limits and making the homoerotic content impossible to ignore.
